1. Purpose
At Iligan WordPress Meetup, we believe our community should be truly inclusive. Therefore, we are committed to providing a friendly, safe, and welcoming environment, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, disability, ethnicity, religion, age, caste, social class, preferred operating system, programming language, text editor, or any other identifying characteristic.
This code of conduct outlines our guidelines for participant behavior and the consequences for unacceptable behavior.
We invite sponsors, volunteers, speakers, and attendees to help us create a safe and positive conference experience for everyone.
2. Open Source Community
An additional goal of this code of conduct is to broaden the open source community by encouraging participants to recognize and strengthen the relationships between what we do and the community at large.
To achieve this goal, the organizers of the Iligan WordPress Meetup will collect the names of deserving participants throughout the event and will highlight selected attendees on the website after the conference.
Please let us know if you see someone who is making an extra effort to ensure our community is welcoming, friendly, and encourages all attendees to contribute. You can nominate someone directly by speaking to the organizers in person or by emailing one of them through Meetup.com.
3. Required behavior
Act with care, respect and cooperation.
Avoid demeaning, discriminatory, or harassing behavior and speech.
Pay attention to what’s happening around you and to other participants. Notify the conference organizers if you notice a dangerous situation or someone in difficulty.
Participate authentically and actively. By doing so, you will help make the Iligan WordPress Meetup happen and make it yours.
4. Unacceptable behaviors
Unacceptable behavior includes: intimidating, harassing, abusive, discriminatory, derogatory, or degrading behavior by any attendee of Iligan WordPress Meetup and related events. All Iligan WordPress Meetup locations and platforms may be shared with the public; please respect the owners and all users of these locations.
Harassment includes: offensive verbal comments related to gender, sexual orientation, race, religion, or disability; inappropriate use of nudity and/or sexual imagery in public spaces (including virtual event presentations and text chats); deliberate intimidation, stalking, or similar; harassing photography or recording; prolonged disruption of talks or other events; inappropriate touching; and unwanted sexual attention.
5. Consequences of incorrect behavior
Unacceptable behavior by attendees, organizers, venue staff, sponsors, or other users of Iligan WordPress Meetup venues will not be tolerated.
Any request to stop unacceptable behavior must be addressed immediately .
If a participant behaves in an unacceptable manner, the conference organizers may take any action deemed appropriate, up to and including expulsion from the conference without warning or refund.
6. What to do if you witness or are subjected to unacceptable behavior
If you are subjected to unacceptable behavior, notice someone else being subjected to inappropriate behavior, or have any other concerns, please inform a staff member as soon as possible.
The Iligan WordPress Meetup team will be available to assist attendees in contacting venue security or law enforcement, to provide escorts, or to otherwise help those who have experienced unacceptable behavior feel safe throughout the conference. Any volunteer can connect you with a conference organizer. You can also contact one of them via Meetup.com.
7. Objective
We expect all conference participants (sponsors, volunteers, speakers, attendees, and other guests) to adhere to this code of conduct on all conference platforms and at all conference-related social events.
8. Contact information
For any information, you can contact one of the organizers via Meetup.com or via the Contact page on our website.
9. License and Attribution
This code of conduct was generated from the fantastic work of Open Source Bridge, modified with information specific to this event. The original is available at http://opensourcebridge.org/about/code-of-conduct/ (archive) and is released under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.
Statements on social or complementary events (where applicable)
Social and supplementary events are intended to provide networking and additional training opportunities, as well as a chance to unwind after a Meetup. They should also be places where you feel safe.
We want you to have fun at these events and do so safely. If you encounter a Code of Conduct violation, witness a violation, are concerned about the well-being, safety, or behavior of another attendee, or have a general question (we understand violations aren’t always obvious!), please contact us immediately by emailing one of the organizers via Meetup.com or the Contact page on our website. For in-person events, if you need assistance or are unable to safely or comfortably remove yourself from a situation you don’t want to be in, organizers will prioritize providing immediate and discreet assistance. Examples include: you’re feeling unwell; your transportation arrangements have fallen through; you’re intoxicated; you’re alone or with someone you don’t trust; you’re overloaded; you’ve experienced or witnessed a Code of Conduct violation. Ask event organizers or staff for assistance.
